Dental Implants

Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth and also provide a fixed solution to having removable partial or complete dentures. Implants provide excellent support and stability for these dental appliances.

Dental implants act as artificial roots (usually titanium) that are surgically placed into the upper or lower jaw bone by Dr. Tomar. The teeth (crowns) attached to implants are very natural looking and will enhance and restore your smile!

What does getting dental implant involve?

The process of getting implants requires a number of visits over a few months.

X-rays, CBCT and 3D Intraoral scans are taken of the jaw and teeth to determine bone, gum tissue, and spacing available for an implant. After careful planning, an implant is ordered from specialized labs. You may also need bone grafting due to poor bone health in the implant area.

At your next visit, the implant will be surgically placed into the bone and allowed to heal and integrate itself into the bone for a few months. A healing cap is placed on the implant during this time to allow proper healing and to make sure food and other particles don’t delay the integration/healing process.

After the healing period, the implant crown is fitted to the post portion of the implant. The artificial tooth securely attached to the implant provides excellent stability and comfort to the patient – almost serving the same purpose as our natural teeth.

Good oral hygiene, healthy eating habits, and regular dental visits will aid in prolonging the life of your implant.
